Why you should build your skills up in 2023

One of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself this year is investing in yourself. And one way to do that is through learning new skills.

It’s about building practices, practices that build skills, and skills that change lives forever!

1: The Power of Knowledge

2023 is a year full of possibilities and opportunities. It starts with curiosity. It is the thirst for knowledge and skill.

Your ideas can be stolen. Assets can be stolen. But knowledge and skills will stay with you until you die.

Here’s a line from a Coach Ben Barry on why you need to invest in yourself:

If you want to be successful online then you need to become better at marketing your product or service than you are at your specialist skill set otherwise you will always be constrained. Your business hasn’t failed, you haven’t failed… you simply are lacking the necessary skills to achieve those results you desire.⁣

2: The Benefits of Networking

Building up your skills in 2023 can help you build relationships with potential customers, which can help establish trust and make the sales process smoother.

Also, create a network of contacts that can help you land the job you want. Networking is also why you can have thousands of followers online without making any money.

The more effort you put into networking, the higher you’ll go.

3: The Value of Experience

Skills add up:

Starting an Ecom brand forced me to learn the basics of copywriting and running ads.

Blogging opened me up to outreach and SEO.

Affiliate marketing to the basics of Sales = Traffic and conversion; which is also important for E-commerce.

When developing skills, theory is a poor replacement for experience.

But the best part you’ve got to be patient, Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Most people fail to learn and develop their skills because they quit before they invested the necessary time + commitment to gain the experience.

4: Rapidly Developing Technology

AI is on the front today.

By building up your skills in 2023, you will be able to stay ahead of the curve and take advantage of the latest technologies.

5: Improved Career Prospects

Building your skillset in 2023 can help you advance your career.

I like the concept of optimizing towards one of three things early in your career:-getting a lot of money-developing a marketable skill-doing something you enjoy, especially if you have a 9-5 job.

The goal is financial freedom:

Once you experience the freedom you never want to look back. Primarily build your skillset and income levels to the point where you no longer “need” them.

Optimizing for building a marketable skill or raising income depends on context.

Marketing, sales, copywriting — three skills that will quickly accelerate your career no matter what field you’re in.

6: Personal Satisfaction

Learning and building up your skills is an excellent way to improve yourself and grow as a person.

Having the latest skills in 2023 will give you a sense of accomplishment and pride in yourself.

For me, writing gives me this personal satisfaction:

Writing is the one skill that complements every career in the world. It should be at the top of your skill stack.

Create a big goal for 2023-on the personal side-on the professional side-on the social side.

What kind of difference can you make in this world?Developing ourselves enriches our personal and professional lives and helps us grow into the best people we can be.

7: Be Prepared for Change and New Opportunities

The world is constantly changing, and 2023 is no exception.

By building your skillset now, you will be better prepared to adapt to the changes that come in 2023 and beyond.

You will be able to take advantage of new opportunities that may arise and be ready for whatever comes your way.

8: Set Yourself Apart

Developing your skillset in 2023 can help you stand out from the crowd. Investing in yourself now can give you an advantage over the competition and make you the leader in your field.

Being the one who knows the most and can do the most will set you apart and give you an edge over others.

Build your personal moat … the combination of your:

Skills, Interests and advantages Just like a moat around a castle, it protects you against competition.

What is PPC? Learn the Basics of PPC marketing in Nigeria

Do you know there’s a new way to advertise your business in a more targeted way to your ideal audience and better still only be charged when people show interest in your business?

In order words – your business would be shown to the market and only when people click inside your funnel before you would be charged.

That is called PPC marketing.

What is PPC marketing?

PPC marketing simply means Pay per click marketing. Its a mode of advertising used by all the big platforms so you as an advertiser pay a fee only when someone clicks on your product.

Now imagine you were selling the hottest product on the market right now and you wanted to advertise your product.

But instead of paying for just views and interests like the regular influencer marketing or TV/RADIO marketing you only pay when someone shows genuine interest.

That is by clicking on your ad and going to your website or online store to learn more or buy your product.

How to make more sales using Pay per click marketing?

Before starting Pay per click marketing, you’ve got to determine your goals as there are several options that can work for PPC:

– Website traffic; best for ecommerce, blogs
– Generating leads; best for affiliate marketers, service agencies,
– Driving sales – best for Ecommerce, online stores etc

Platforms for PPC marketing

Google Ads:

Google Ads is the number one platform for PPC marketing in terms of getting leads or sales from search results.

It comes with a tag nowadays “Sponsored” which can appear as high as #1 on the search results.

And because your clients are actively searching for your products – they are most likely to buy.

Another cool thing with Google ads is the fact that your ads can appear both on search results, YouTube, and blogs/forums i.e. websites within the Google Display Network.
Nigerians using Google ads can only pay in dollar.

Get started with Google ads, learn from a guy Kassy, who has generated over 40 million naira promoting digital products via Google ads:

Facebook Ads:

The coolest thing about Facebook ads on PPC marketing is the fact that it offers a wide range of targeting options which you can take advantage of such as demographics, interests, behaviors, etc.

This applies to Instagram also as you can run facebook ads that appear on both platforms.

With the PayU option available on facebook you have the ability to pay in Naira.

Microsoft Advertising: Formerly known as Bing Ads

The only difference between Microsoft Advertising and Google ads is that your PPC campaigns display ads on the Bing search engine and Yahoo.

And you’ll be charged based on clicks only which can be a valuable platform to reach a specific audience.

Twitter Ads:

More Nigerians are beginning to use Twitter to build audiences and sell their products.

The ads you create on Twitter can appear all over the twitter platform e.g. newsfeeds, under tweets and the search impressions.

Also its unique platforms offers the ability to target specific interests, keywords, followers of certain accounts, and more.

LinkedIn Ads:

Linked Ads is a big deal for Business to Business Marketing (B2B) since it is a professional networking site.

The targeting options include industries, job titles, company size etc.

Amazon Advertising:

With the rise in Nigerians publishing products on Amazon Kindle – you can scale your sales for your products by increasing visibility using the PPC marketing available on the Amazon platform.

What’s interesting is also their targeting options which can give you high quality results.

Just make sure your content and covers on the Kindle platform are original to prevent being blacklisted.

These are just a few examples of platforms where you can run PPC marketing campaigns.

Each platform has its own strengths, targeting options, and audience reach, so it’s important to choose the ones that align with your target audience and marketing goals.

How to learn PPC marketing?

1. Conduct Keyword Research:

There are certain “keywords” your customers are using to search for the relevant products online.

E.g. a home owner in need for a plumber in Lekki – would be search online for “hire a plumber in Lagos.”

One who needs to get a ready-made black suit of his size would simply be searching “buy a black suit online”

So you need to identify those keywords and note them somewhere as you would need to supply them in pay per click marketing like Google.

2. Create a Compelling Ad copy

Your ad copy is meant to grab the attention of your target audience along with the creative image or video.

It basically should include a hook, story and your offer.

Keep in mind that search ads like Google/Bing are focused more on text than pictures or videos unless for their display ads.

The better your adcopy especially headline the more you attracts clicks and increase your click through rate – therefore lowering your budget.

3. Set a Budget and Bidding Strategy:

Determine your PPC budget based on your sales goals and allocate funds. It is deducted depends on whether your account is prepaid or postpaid.

Only postpaid accounts have luxury of spending before either threshold limit or payment due date.

To maximize visibility and clicks set a competitive bidding strategy but within your budget constraints.

4. Monitor and Optimize:

You can actually set a working campaign and allow auto-recommendation and the budget do its work for even up to a month without monitoring it – but you’re surely going to waste a lot of funds.

For best results – regularly monitor the performance of your PPC campaigns.

I personally analyze metrics such as conversion rates, click-through rates (CTR) and cost per acquisition (CPA).

Add negative keywords by identifying underperforming keywords or ads and make necessary adjustments to optimize your campaigns for better results.

5. Remarketing:

Every heard the phrase “all the money is in the follow ups”?

Remarketing campaigns is what follow up is to any business owner.

The aim of remarketing campaigns is to target users who have previously visited your website or interacted with your ads.

And it works across all PPC campaigns including Facebook and Google ads so you can keep your brand in front of potential customers and increases the chances of converting them into sales.

CONCLUSION

For every $1 spent on PPC marketing such as Google ads, the the average business generates $2 in revenue.

You too can be one of such businesseses today.

Are you looking for a Google Ads course that shows you EXACTLY how to set up and run profitable Google ads?

Great, you’re in the right place.

2. Choose a HOT product to sell

The 72IG used to be one of the hottest products to sell previously but is now out of the market. And I personaly enrolled and benefitted from the legend Toyin Omotoson.

Today there are cheaper options to get you started.

If you’re like me and have skills you can promote courses for specialized skills like Webdesign, Google Ads or Facebook Ads

3. Promote your product

The wrong way to promote your product is to spam your affiliate links on every post or status of yours.

The right way is to:
– Find the right audience
– Brainstorm on helpful solutions to their problems
– Recommend the right product to help them

It could even be via Product Reviews. If you have a blog/twitter or create video content on platforms like Tiktok, Instagram – you can Create Engaging Product reviews.

  • Generate quality traffic daily

Traffic is king when it comes to showcasing your offers. Don’t sleep on generating eyeballs on the products you’re trying to sell and also focusing on the QUALITY of the leads.

When promoting your affiliate products, it’s crucial to provide valuable and honest information to your audience.

Instead of simply sharing the product link, create engaging product reviews that highlight the benefits, features, and personal experiences with the product. Include both the pros and cons to maintain transparency and build trust with your audience.

By offering genuine insights, you can persuade potential buyers to make a purchase through your affiliate link.

WIN-WIN. A valuable money making lesson.

Here’s a personal example. Recently a friend told me who he’s been struggling to get clients for his freelancing business.

I asked him what platform was his major target and he mentioned Upwork.

So I recommended a product on getting and retaining clients on Upwork for him from.

He was happy to get it as it would give him better ideas to optimize his profile, write cleaner bio etc while i would make a 50% commission on that product.

Bonus point:

4. Spice up your Offer

To entice potential customers to purchase through your affiliate link, consider offering special bonuses or incentives.

These can be additional products, exclusive content, or access to a private community.

By providing extra value, you differentiate yourself from other affiliates and increase the perceived value of the product.

Make sure that the bonuses are relevant and complementary to the main product, enhancing the overall customer experience.

CONCLUSION

Lastly, here are some things to consider when starting affiliate marketing:

1. Start with ONE affiliate marketing platform
2. Pick a HOT product proven to be of high quality and has high demand.
3. Pick a product with HIGH commission – anything less than 40-50% commission may not be a good fit.

Hopefully, you’ve gotten better information on how to get started on affiliate marketing today.

10 MOST Powerful Online money lessons

I grew up in an Entrepreneurial home i.e. both parents did business both by choice and as last means of survival.

For example, there was a point when my mum lost her shop and instead of staying home complaining and crying over her situation, she found a spot outside a busy line and was offering computer services plus selling small products in a little store or protection outside.

While the zeal and doggedness has sustained her for a long time in business – this alone is not enough to grow a profitable business online today.

Here are some top online money business lessons i’ve learned over the years:

1. Become an Expert/authority at something

One of the fastest ways to attract your ideal clients is to become an authority in your niche. But you won’t become anything near an expert if you’re not niching down in the first place.

There’s no big reward doing what everyone else is doing. Focus on finding your expertise.

Pick an idea/market to gain expertise and give it your ALL. Plus don’t forget to personalize it is a unique way to build a hot-niche.

Best if you really have a specific target audience and solve a big problem for them. This will make you seen as an expert in this specific field, and you won’t have to worry about the amount of clients in the future.

2. Work Smart – not just Hard

It starts with having a solid desire to make things run smoothly without so much of your effort. How many people have you seen in construction and literally breaking their bodies just to do their work.

You want to be fit enough to be able to play with your kids in the future so learn to use your mind to earn money not your back.

Don’t just work hard, but ensure you work SMART also. Build systems – let your money work for you:

The good thing about building systems now is that you just need to tap into other systems in place such as Ads, automations, Webinars affiliate networks, flows and retargeting which have already been optimized to give you best results.

3. Focus on your business and starve your distractions.

Its easy to jump from one business model to another every week – but that’s not going to build you a solid brand.

The only way to stay focused is to starve all your distractions including shiny objects and focus on your business.

Doubt, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and fear of what others think are usually a by-product of a lack of self-belief.

If you dedicate your all to your business, your business will feed for a lifetime. – Naija Brand Chick

4. Take Action on Ideas

The key to getting amazing results and building confidence in what you do is to focus on implementing and stop overthinking.

“Most people overthink every aspect of building a business.

It’s dumb and such a waste of time.

Instead, just start executing on a DAILY basis.

Yeah, you’ll suck at first and people will shit on you for it, so what?

With time you’ll notice that the faster you take action, the more confident you’ll be.” – Joshua Cousin

5. Freedom >>> Chasing status or income

Freedom is living a life on YOUR terms and one that aligns with your values! ⁣

Thousands of people have used Entrepreneurship as a springboard into financial security, financial freedom, and huge business and personal success.

In terms of fulfillment and happiness, entrepreneurs that learn to stop fixating on just status or higher income are the ones killing it!

Happiness is found on the journey of actualizing your own mission and vision.

6. Be consistent

The reward for consistence can never be overemphasized. In short why did you quit that new business you wanted to go into?

You probably lost faith or the zeal for pursing that dream.

The reward includes becoming known for something and the resilience/grit you develop with it which has a way of molding your character.

But you don’t want to be consistent in a blind manner -analyze the things that are working and the things that aren’t.

6. Learn how to sell

Selling is one of the world’s highest paid skill. No organization can grow without sales.

⦁ Create irresistible offers
⦁ Promote your offers daily
⦁ Get better at sales

7. Track and measure everything

The moment I fell in love with tracking ad spend, sales and net profit with Excel or Google sheet my business felt like a “real business.”

It was only then I could notice trends, anomalies and how to predict and manage my expectations.

8. Underpromise, over deliver

Sales is always easier when you are able to blow the minds of your customers and competition.

Remember, anyone can make a one-time sale. But only when you give outstanding results does your work gets spread by word of mouth.

The key word is “overdeliver” – that’s how you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your niche.⁣⁣

Aim to offer the “best” service or high quality products. Remember, no amount of marketing can keep you in business if you have a bad product.

9. Optimize your business for profit

Not all business have a direct means of measuring return over investment or calculating profits especially right away e.g. Writing.

For example, i can swear writing has not paid me directly even 1/100th of the effort i have put into it but it has in an in indirect manner SCALED my business 10x what i would have ever imagined if i never indulged in writing as a habit.

Your business overall should be optimized to be profitable in the long-run so you never regret starting in the first place.

You’re not in business for charity, you’re not in business for fun, you’re there to make money.
Ensure what you’re selling has a high profit margin, if you can, a 40 to 50% profit margin is great.- Naijabrandchick

10. Reinvesting back into your business

It doesn’t matter what vision or goals you have for your online business, if you’re afraid or don’t have reinvesting back to your business as a priority – your business is going to suffer.

When I noticed the potential of my business – I started reinvesting 80 – 90% back into the business because of the hope I had in the business.
And no surprised it worked – the results of investing such huge amount back into the business has yielded much results that I now relax into a more convenient share.

CONCLUSION

Growing up in an entrepreneurial household has given me a unique perspective on building a profitable online business.

It has taught me the importance of expertise, efficiency, focus, action, freedom, exceeding expectations, tracking progress, optimizing for profitability, and reinvestment.

These valuable lessons have equipped me with the knowledge and mindset needed to navigate the digital landscape and create a thriving online venture.

How do you grow your following on Twitter as a blogger

Everyone knows how Pinterest, Facebook help through pins and groups… but very few people know about the value of Twitter.

Your Twitter account might be the most valuable social media asset you own in terms of creating millions of impressions and clicks for free. And there is no better time than now to start building yours.

In fact i can honestly say getting into Twitter is the #1 motivation I used to start an e-commerce business that has done over $100k in sales via Google ads in just two years.

Even if you prefer writing long form content, embracing the entrepreneurial side of you would make it easier to make a living out of your passions.

If you want to grow your audience on Twitter…Focus on providing valuable content, building relationships, and actively listening to feedback.

Publishing your thoughts online is the best way to find like-minded people.

You can:

  • -Entertain
  • -Educate
  • Inspire-
  • Inform them

1: Establish Yourself As A Credible Authority

Making a good profile bio of yourself is the first thing you should do, rather than just leaving it blank.

Make sure your dream clients know exactly who you are, what you do, what you’re passionate about, but most importantly, what is in it for them, meaning why should people follow you in the first place?

What result do you get for people?

2: Consistency

Make sure you maintain consistency. You’ve got to be consistent with it. Nothing great was built overnight. It takes showing up day after day and putting in the work.

Be consistent with your content. Post regularly and consistently to keep your followers engaged. This will help to build trust and loyalty with your audience, which will lead to more followers.

Post regularly to keep your followers engaged. Set up a schedule to ensure that you post content consistently, and use a tool like Hypefurry, Tweethunter, Hootsuite or Buffer to help automate the process.

Consistency is key to building a strong brand. Make sure all of your branding elements are consistent across all channels and that your messaging and tone are consistent as well.

3: Interact with others in your Niche

Make sure you start interacting, i.e., liking and following other people and influencers in your niche.

While posting likable and engaging content can be effective in helping you get noticed.

Reach out to people who have similar interests and interact with them.

Follow and comment on their posts, and like their tweets. This will help to build relationships and create a larger network of followers.

Following and engaging with influencers will help you grow rapidly, because Twitter will see you’re in the same niche and recommend your profile to their new followers.

4: Tell Your Story

Facts tell, stories sell.

This popular saying has long been accepted by marketers sales people and business owners around the world as a proven method for engaging audiences and ultimately making more sales.

Learning to tell stories is the key to running a successful online business.

People just love stories and relate to them.

What inspired you to start a business or writing online? The changes its made to you, your life, your freedom.

Don’t sugar coat it. Be honest about the challenges you’ve faced. The things you found hard. The times you felt uncomfortable

5: Deliver More Value

Focus on giving more.

  1. Engage with people in the same niche and communities on Twitter
  2. Give out really valuable stuff, golden nuggets
  3. Share your personal wins and client testimonials. That is, deliver more value.

6) Take Advantage of the Know, Like, Trust Factor

Get your audience to Know you, Like you, Trust you, and Buy from you, by building rapport with them.

Yes, sharing videos, photos, and behind-the-scenes content is important.

Take screenshots of, for example, your blogs, your landing pages, your websites, or your products, and offers.

7: Tweet Your Way to Success

Create content that is both interesting and relevant to your target audience.

Utilize a mix of text, images, GIFs, and videos to keep your followers engaged and coming back for more.

If you want, even though it’s a bit outdated, be sure to use hashtags and relevant keywords to help increase your reach and visibility.

8: Make Connections

Connect with people who have similar interests to yours.

Engage with other users, reply and retweet their tweets, and comment on their content to start conversations and build relationships.

Then hit the DMs and start networking and making sales.

9: Run a Contest

Create a free product and ask people to like or retweet to get access. Easy way to shoot up your email list.

Create a hashtag for your followers to use and offer a giveaway or prize for the person who uses it the most.

This will help you generate more engagement and allow you to tap into new audiences. This may not be important if you’re just getting started and would work better for Brands and Influencers.

10: Share Quality Content

Share content that is both informative and entertaining.

This could include articles, blog posts, or whitepapers that are related to your niche.

It could also include relevant news stories, quotes, or even funny memes.

Remember to always link back to your website or blog.

11: Share Your Knowledge

Share your experience and knowledge on the platform. Create interesting and informative content, such as tutorials, tips, and advice.

This will help to engage your audience and generate more followers.

12: Use Hashtags

Use relevant hashtags to make your posts easier to find. Use popular and trending hashtags, as well as niche ones, to get more visibility.

13: Networking with Influencers

Start by connecting with influential Twitter users in your niche. Reach out to them and offer to collaborate on something.

Once you have established an initial connection, look for ways to foster an ongoing relationship by offering help and advice, commenting on their posts, and engaging in conversations with them.

This will help you to gain visibility, build relationships, and increase your following.

14: Tweet Quality Content

Quality content is key when it comes to growing your Twitter following.

Make sure that your tweets are interesting, well-researched, and relevant to your niche.

By providing useful information, you can establish yourself as an expert in your field and gain more followers.

15: Use Twitter Ads

Twitter Ads is a great way to reach a larger audience and grow your following.

You can use the platform to target specific users with ads, or even promote your own tweets.

This is a great way to get more visibility and attract more followers.

16: Participate in Twitter Chats and Spaces

Participating in Twitter chats is a great way to get your name out there and grow your following. Twitter chats are conversations between Twitter users on a specific topic.

By joining in on these conversations, you can make connections with people who share your interests and help spread the word about your business.

17: “Twitter Challenges”

Create a challenge for users to follow you for a certain amount of time. This can be used to generate a larger following and give people something to look forward to.

18: Do a Blog or Link share day

Create a daily or weekly event where users can share their content and encourage others to follow them.

This can be done through a hashtag or direct message to increase visibility.

Say something like: “Drop your links below for a RT and don’t forget to like, comment and share other blogs”

“Like and retweet this tweet. Leave a link to your latest post below. Comment on other posts. Follow blogs you want to see more content from”

P.S; I recently took Daniel Vassallo’s well-known video course on how to build a Twitter audience.

In this video course, Daniel Vassallo will show you how he built his Twitter audience, and how you can do it too.

Why You Should Embrace Boredom to become Successful

Boredom can be a challenging emotion to deal with, and it is natural to want to avoid feeling bored at all costs. However, embracing boredom and allowing yourself to experience it can actually be beneficial for your personal and professional growth.

Many times we associate boredom to not have anything to do and negative activities to pass the time which can lead to social problems such as loneliness, social isolation, and crime.

Boredom is also blamed for negative mental health effects such as anxiety, depression, and even suicide.

While boredom makes lots of people nervous and do freaky things … it’s also one of the most stable things that can bring about deep progress and allow ideas to pop freely.

Boredom can be a good thing if you use it to your advantage. Embrace it.

Think of reading, writing, coding or building things and solid businesses … they’re not exciting for most people compared to scrolling funny videos, watching TV, movies or talking.

When you get closer to people when they’re stuck or engage in toxic habits or addictions such as e.g. junk food, porn, alcohol, smoking, they always have one culprit amongst others to blame … BOREDOM.

The fear of getting bored at a later stage is what keeps most people from starting meaningful things. Researchers have attributed the extreme of this feeling to a certain disorder – ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder).

I’m not here for labels or conventional jargons – the point is BOREDOM is a powerful force that can be used to create big things or mar your progress.

The fact is most meaningful things get boring. Because Important things are usually boring and are usually outside of our comfort zones.

Sticking to a niche without chasing shiny objects is boring.

Learning a skill can be boring.

Eating healthy foods is boring

Having a healthy relationship without drama and unreasonable inconsistency can be boring.

The fear of it can make you do or keep doing crazy things you hate to do which you know may not be serving you.

What are the benefits of boredom? 10 reasons to embrace boredom

1: Boredom can help you become more Productive

Staying focused is about saying no to distractions. When you are constantly being stimulated by external sources, it can be difficult to focus on a task for a prolonged period of time.

Why should boredom be embraced?

Embracing boredom and allowing yourself to experience it can help you to develop greater focus and concentration, which can lead to increased productivity.

What’s one guarantee to failure? – Doing 5, 8, 10 things at a time.

It’s no secret humans are bad at multitasking – we simply “task switch” which costs us our attention and quality of our efforts.

Also when you’re bored, you’re more likely to be motivated to find something to do. This can lead to you accomplishing more tasks and getting more done.

Successful people have learned to stick with a plan and do the boring work.

2: Getting used to Boredom can help you attain Mastery in what you do

Only through embracing boredom can you achieve say 10,000 hours in any skill.

Nothing feels better than working, having your habits/routines in place and focusing on growing.

All masters in any field put in more work in private than the results they bring out in public.

They simply learned to embrace doing the boring things in their field which puts them ahead of the average person.

Love the boring work folks … the harder it is, the more you should want it to become expert.

3: Boredom Teaches You How to Be Comfortable with Yourself

Deep down of this fear of boredom – how much is because you’re afraid of judgment from others? Or being the real you.

So we’re constantly trying to play cool and showing off our best sides on social media. Embracing boredom can help you let go of the need for validation.

Being bored allows you to be alone with your thoughts and to get comfortable with yourself. This can be beneficial in many aspects of life, such as when you need to be alone to work on a project or when you’re in a situation where you can’t be with other people.

4: Build Healthy relationships

Most toxic relationships are full of extreme highs and lows. There’s always one drama you’re anticipating or the other.

Of course you can consciously bring one fun or the other but a healthy relationship is for the most part consistent and may appear “boring.”

If you cut out all those dramas then you’re start seeing what it feels like to be in a “normal” relationship.

But first you need to go beyond “surface conversations” or only “seeking pleasure” to even get to this level.

5: Embracing Boredom can lead to Better Health

When I was unhealthiest– I was always on a quest for the newest and tastiest processed foods.

I have a friend who is struggling with belly fat yet cannot help sipping on alcohol every time he thinks he’s bored.

Same with exercise – it was always about what looked cool over how my body felt.

Unless you don’t go to the gym for personal reasons e.g. home workouts etc – one of the reasons people dread going to the gym is because it’s boring and so you would literally do anything instead of working out.

Drinking water over beer is boring.

Cooking over feasting on processed foods can be boring

Today – I’ve embraced having boring routines for both my diet and exercise which has helped me prioritize health over aesthetics.

6: Improve your Finances

Keeping a budget

Tracking your business growth

Reading charts and spreadsheets all appear boring.

But are the primary drivers of assessing what moves the needle forward in terms of financial progress in your personal, career or business life.

Here’s how Coach Oldford puts it:

My net worth increased dramatically when I fell in love with agreements, spreadsheets and balance sheets.

Falling in love with the boring stuff, let’s you enjoy the exciting stuff.

7: Grow your business

It’s the boring stuff that builds your business.

People are impatient.

No one wants to show up everyday understand that life’s a number game or be uncomfortable.

Ability to do 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤⁣ is a big criteria for business success.

Everybody wants to own trendy companies and become the next success story. Then you notice you still have a lot of tedious and boring work e.g. the writing or coming up with content, networking, the following up, and the background thinking to do before you get there – that’s separates winners from those who barely get by.

Fact is, if you’ve got the patience to go through times that seem boring and keep moving forward, you’ve got the keys to success in your hand!

8: Increase your Faith

Faith and fear don’t coexist.

It takes faith to trust that you can succeed and get through things without being nervous of “what to do” and “what not to do” all the time.I wrote this to question my fears and stop being afraid of staying still.

9: Boredom Gives You Time to Reflect

When you’re bored, you have time to think about your life and what you want to achieve.

This can be a valuable opportunity to reflect on your goals and to make plans to achieve them.

This is the exact reason I can’t “fit in” in most 9-5 jobs – always being “busy” and having no time to reflect is not attractive.

Boredom allows us to reflect on our lives and figure out what we want to change.

10: Boredom can lead to creativity

When you are bored, your brain is not being stimulated by external sources, which can lead to a feeling of restlessness.

This restlessness can then drive you to find ways to entertain yourself, which can lead to increased creativity and problem-solving skills.

Should you embrace boredom in order to become more creative?

When we’re bored, we’re not engaged in any specific task that requires our full attention.

This allows our minds to wander, which can lead to new insights and ideas.

This is especially true if we consciously try to use boredom as an opportunity to engage in activities that stimulate our minds and allow for creative thinking. such as brainstorming, problem-solving, or engaging in hobbies that require imagination and innovation.

Brainstorming and problem-solving, for example, can help you come up with new ideas and solutions to challenges you may be facing.

Engaging in hobbies that require imagination and innovation can also be a great way to exercise your creative muscles and come up with new ideas.

CONCLUSION

Overall, embracing boredom can be a useful tool for personal and professional growth, and can help you to become more successful.

However, it is important to note that boredom can also be a sign of underlying issues such a lack of motivation, anxiety or depression.

If you are experiencing chronic boredom and it is affecting your daily life, it may be helpful to seek the guidance of a mental health professional to address these underlying issues.

Why you need to build a solid work ethic?

How do you develop a solid work ethic?

A strong work ethic can lead to more opportunities, greater job satisfaction, and improved work-life balance.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from personal development authors like Brian Tracy is “building a solid work ethic.”

Sometimes you gotta be the first to come in and be amongst the last to leave.

While this not make sense if you’re working where you don’t feel appreciated or a job you hate.

The key is your work ethic doesn’t just apply to your 9-5 but everything you do to make a living.

Most of the successful people you know have as a secret – they can “sit in one place for hours” and “finish tasks.

What does a solid work mean?

A solid work ethic is having a healthy attitude towards what you do. It’s not doing more non-goal related tasks or adding more hours and getting burned out.

Neither is it craving “soft-work” without first putting in the work to build consistent habits, routines and systems.

10 reasons to develop a good work ethic

1: Personal growth

There is no secrets sauce to personal growth, all you need is an open mind that wants to learn, and a good work ethic!

Growth comes from getting better and overcoming challenges which gets easier with a solid-work ethic.

2: Stay focused on your goals

So many people are jumping from one business model to another – what we know as “shiny object syndrome.”

What they lack is Mental clarity and improved work ethic. By developing solid routines and habits, keeping up with your “why” and never giving up – your work ethic can help you stay focused on your goals.

3: The Satisfaction of a Job Well Done:

Doing a good job is its own reward and we want to sometimes take pride in your work.

This can serve to boost our Self-esteem and confidence. Note that if you’re someone who uses their work ethic and achievements as crutch or aid to seek affirmation then you set yourself up for getting trapped.

Where does good work ethic come from

A healthy dose of self-esteem and confidence can help you keep up with your self-respect and attract respect from others.

As a bonus to an intact work – even when you make mistakes it’s easier to learn from them and not to let them define you.

4: Develop the Right attitude to work

Many people today don’t have the right attitude to work – they feel entitled and want all the benefits.

While dealing with clients we forget it’s not just about “what you say” but “how you say it.”

Alex Hormozi has a lot of good stuff on this on his book – “$100m offers.” Our attitude can determine our results by showing our true motivation i.e. whose interest we have at heart – the client or just our pockets and our conviction (if we really believe in what we do).

Photo by Joyce Busola on Unsplash

The right attitude can also help you outsource wisely – Focusing on where you bring the most value, delegate the rest to your team by coaching and empowering or just eliminating non-essentials.

All it takes is a winner attitude and committed decision.

5: Achieve your goals

If you want to succeed in any endeavour, you need to have a good work ethic.

Establishing and maintaining a strong work ethic can help improve your chances of success in any field.

You can achieve way more than you can imagine with a solid work ethic, and focus on the right stuff.

Nothing gives you more power than the ability to take full ownership of the goals you want to achieve and the person you want to become.

And if you’re optimizing for a healthy work-life balance – a solid work ethic can give you better results in your career or business and more quality time with family and friends.

6: Attract brighter minds

Hardwork attracts the brightest minds.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t achieved your goals yet or not – if you keep putting in consistent efforts and getting better at your craft eventually you’ll get noticed by smarter people.

All you need to do is to surround yourself with people who will encourage you to think bigger instead of playing ‘safe’.

7: Discover your true Passion

Until you learn to put in the work – you cannot get the full rewards of doing what you really like.

If you find yourself fading away whether emotionally or physically despite the results you’re achieving then it’s time to overhaul your thoughts and beliefs in your work ethic.

With time you get to focus more on what gives you life the most rather than what drains you.

You may need to work with a Coach/support to help you become more strategic, understand why you need to change, how to change, and sustain this change to grow and minimize burnout

8: Set you apart

Work ethic is a life hack to separate yourself from the crowd and ultimately set you apart from the competition.

Nothing can replace a good work ethic.⁣ It gives you room to invest in yourself and your business open yourself to opportunities that help you experience exponential growth and success which is key to standing out.

9: Make you a better leader

Want to be a better leader? The ability to influence is an essential leadership skill.

Walk the talk!

That’s the best way to help, empower and support! Through leading by example you earn the right to influence others and bring change where you want to.

Establishing and maintaining a strong work ethic can help improve your chances of influence and success in any field.

When you treat others respectfully and never ask another to do something you would be unwilling to do yourself, you are entitled to the respect of others — and they will freely give it.

Leading others means you must be willing to give far more of yourself than you would ever ask from them.

How to Bet on yourself? 10 ways to bet on yourself

Would you bet on yourself?

Most successes in life don’t happen overnight.

Contrary to popular opinion the safe bet is not about making the most comfortable decisions.

Because comfort and security no matter how much you get compensated, can cost you your vision, time and freedom.

If you’re going to bet on anybody – the safest bet is always to BET ON YOURSELF!

It may not pay off right away……. and that’s why most people quit. The key is NOT to be the one to prevent you’re your own opportunity. The hardwork and sacrifice are eventually going to pay off. You are placing a bet on your future!

10 Ways to Bet on Yourself

1: Work on your mindset

Living the life you desire, begins with change within yourself⁣.

Betting on yourself starts with working on yourself i.e. mindset and personal growth.

This is a constant and never ending process and when given priority makes the process effortless.

Success happens when you grow yourself, not outgrow others.

2: Believe in yourself

Not everyone would believe in your dreams and that’s okay.

People may underrate you at times or see you below your potential.

Believe in yourself even when no one would.

Don’t let limiting beliefs and doubts get over you.

“Many people who have succeeded in various big things had a deep faith in themselves. Trust that whatever you put your mind to do would succeed”- Matt L.

3: Choose discipline over motivation

When making crucial life choices we’re all going to be faced between doing stuff only when we feel motivated vs doing it regardless. It takes betting on yourself to choose discipline over motivation.

Discipline would help you do the hard but effective things.

Your success or failure in life or at work isn’t about other people. It’s your procrastination, excuses and indiscipline.

4: Never quit

Things may not always go smoothly, but if you keep moving forward, eventually you will reach your destination.

Quitting is not an option when you bet on yourself.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes – betting on yourself helps you develop this conviction that you’ll find a way no matter how difficult the journey seems.

5: Invest in yourself

It takes investing in yourself to pour the right time, energy and resources on yourself.

For example working with the right coaches and mentors to show you the way and accelerate your growth.

Betting on yourself is not about making the right decisions independently but learning from others.

6: Take Risks

Taking risks is at the bedrock of betting on yourself. And Risk is better than regret.

Multiple offers would you bet on yourself? So take that first step. The biggest risk is NOT getting started.

If you want something you’ve never had, then you must do something you’ve never done.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with ONE step. Stop focusing on obstacles in the journey and just get MOVING.

Just thinking about what you want won’t make it happen. You need to take concrete steps towards your goal in order for it to become a reality.

Life is a gamble are you willing to bet on yourself?

Sometimes you gotta go all in and bet on yourself if you really want to change your life for the better.

7: Think positive

It’s all about believing in yourself and your capacity to succeed if you want to develop a positive mindset.

Make a list of your positive qualities. This will help you to see what you have to offer and give you the confidence to bet on yourself.

It’s critical to replace any negative thoughts with positive ones in order to keep oneself motivated to keep trying no matter what obstacles arise.

8: Follow your heart

Stay true to yourself by staying on your path regardless of other people’s approval or disapproval.

And for those who have followed the “bet on yourself mindset” how is it going? Sometimes you may need to make those tough decisions that may not make any sense to the average person: e.g. starting a new career, build your own business, quitting your job or picking a life partner etc.

In those moments – betting on yourself would help you take those tough decisions without looking back.

9: Maximize your time and energy

Not everything is worth your attention and energy.

Only by giving ourselves precious time to reflect can we grow and nurture ourselves into becoming the better people we strive to be.

As you learn to be at peace within yourself, you definitely start choosing where you spend your time and energy. How about you bet on yourself?

So, make a list that contains your goal, your level of dedication to the goal, and the steps you’re willing to take to attain it.

10: Enjoy the process

Be gentle and patient with yourself, everyday.

It’ll be more difficult to succeed if the route to obtain something becomes too tiresome.

Learning what you’re capable of may be thrilling and fun, so make your goals enjoyable in order to keep moving forward without losing perspective

What are some good ‘bet on yourself’ stories

I’ll end with a true story from my coach friend Chad Osinga:

“I was told that I had a learning disability when I was in elementary school.

Teachers called me dumb… I didn’t read at all…I was not too fond of the thought of sitting down and reading.

Many of the words were hard for me to read, and it took me what seemed forever to get through one page…So, I just avoided it..

Fast forward to the present time, and I have done a 180… I love reading!

Like, I love it so much; it is the first thing I do every morning! I can’t get enough of the knowledge and different perceptions the authors provide.

My thirst for learning and have become a sponge for helpful knowledge..

The point is – one, it is not how you start; it is how you finish.

Secondly, the things that scare us often become our most substantial assets.

I thought I was dumb I was petrified of reading and being exposed as lesser of a human.

So, as I went on this journey of personal growth, I did exactly what many of my mentors over the years have told me to do.

That is, do the hard shit first! So I picked up a book and committed to 3 pages every morning. That turned into 5…Now, I read a minimum of one chapter every morning…

I am my sharpest when I wake up, so I throw myself into a state of learning off the break.

Don’t count yourself out!

Stay in the fight. Do the hard shit.

Make those hard things your strongest Qualities.

And most of all, nothing else in this post rings true.

Please believe in one thing, and that is yourself!”

Go Kill It!

CONCLUSION

What is the lesson you’ve learned when betting on yourself when faced with adversity?

I had trouble graduating school over loss of interest. I tried so many online businesses until i scaled my Ecom. Writing was only something i liked but didn’t know how to until i built a system of writing.

I’ve learned to place faith over fear, take risks and invest in myself.

I hope after reading this piece – even in the scariest moments you’d still be willing to bet on yourself while never losing faith in God.

8 habits to become Successful In Life

What are the habits you do to help you become a more successful person?

“Success” can mean different things to different people and even change meaning to us at different moments in our lives.

When I was 18 all i wanted was to get into a “good career” i thought my family and society would be proud of.

Today, building career for the sake of being recognized or for only financial rewards means nothing to me. Our habits tell a lot on what and how much we can do.

There’s no such thing as Overnight success. People often look at those who’ve “made it” and assume they were in the right place at the right time.

It’s almost never the case. The lives of successful people are ones filled with habits.

The Greek philosopher, Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit.”

Therefore, to become successful, we have to cultivate the habits of successful people.

8 Habits to help you become successful in your life and business

1: The Habit of Preparation

Confidence comes from preparation.

The first time I engaged in debate as a kid – I flopped. I rehearsed everything on my own without asking anyone at home for help in terms of rehearsals.

When the D-day came – it was a speech and prize giving day, i presented and stammered to the point the debaters had to collect the mic from me.

It turned out I didn’t prepare enough.

The 10,000 hours rule popularized by Malcolm Gladwell can give you a good idea on what is required to build expertise in anything.

Abraham Lincoln said something about preparation – “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”

Successful people don’t leave their success to chance. They prepare for it. They plan, they set goals for themselves and they work towards them.

2: The Habit of Action Taking.

Planning and preparing aren’t enough. Successful people take action. Without action, preparations are just that– preparations.

To become successful, cultivate the habit of taking action.

One thing i learned from Entrepreneurship is – nothing happens until you take action.

3: Having a Positive Attitude

Research has concluded the average person thinks more negative thoughts than positive thoughts.

Instead of looking for reasons why things should turn out well, the normal man fixates on all the different ways things could go haywire.

Wonder why positive thinking is a trait found in successful people?

One of the most successful college basketball coaches in America, John Calipari said,

“This is one of the most important themes I want you to take from me: Stay as positive and upbeat as you can be. I’ll say it many times: if you can dream it, you can be it.”

Your reality is the result of your thoughts and belief system.

Stay positive.

Believe you can and you can.

4: The Habit of Reading.

Better still – the habit of learning.

Its why “Education” beats school system. You don’t need a classroom to build your mind.

Leaders are readers.

If the people you surround yourself with shame you for reading its either they are “action takers to the max” who do more than they learn from others or you’re surrounding yourself with the wrong people.

Successful people are avid readers because, in reading, you gain more knowledge, you become more creative, and you get more ideas.

Reading books is like having a conversation with the authors, knowing their secrets, their struggles, and learning from them.

It is a quick way to the top because you are learning from someone else’s experience. You don’t need to waste time making your own mistakes.

5: The Habit of Networking.

Successful people know the value of networking.

They know that to be successful, you need to surround yourself with successful people.

The value of your net worth is in your network. Learn the art of networking.

Same with life in general.

If you want to gave a smoother relationship in your working place – learn to interact and network with other coworkers rather than gossiping in private.

Check out all the successful creators you know on social media platforms – they’re good networkers with other accounts.

6: The Habit of Waking Up Early.

I love all the testimonials from the popular “5am club” popularized by Robbin Sharma.

It reminds me of my family home where my parents have always prioritized waking up early for devotions and making healthy breakfast till this day.

While we all have the same number of hours in a day, successful people have more productive hours because they start their day earlier than others.

Waking up early is not as hard as people think. With practice, your body gets adapted to it. Just making effort to wake up early can influence your system for good to start seeing the need to go to bed early.

However, this would be irrelevant if you still cannot find the value of going to bed early else you sabotage your health for productivity sake.

7: The Habit of Personal Care.

When i first lost my health to burnout and ill-health i found out i took better care of my “computer” than i did for myself.

  • – Run routine check-ups
  • – Always back up your system,
  • – Get the Latest Antivirus.

Some people have the same addiction with their cars or their pets.

Wait a minute. What do you do to keep your system in balance on a daily basis?

How many more times would you use energy drinks and fast foods to stay active while you can’t find time for what you put in your body?

Contrary to popular beliefs, successful people do not work themselves to an early grave.

They don’t neglect their health and personal life.

Zig Ziglar said, “The man who earns a million but destroys his health in the process is not a success.”

To be successful, your health and wellbeing are paramount.

  • Eat good food.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Get plenty of rest and spend time in nature

8: Helping Others

Lift others up and help them achieve their goals too; good karma always comes back around!

I’m fascinated by the likes of Russel Brunson in building Click Funnels and all his writings especially “Expert Secrets” The key point is – “contribution is the key to continued growth.”

And Its only by shifting our focus to helping others that we continue to grow.

What are some habits to quit if someone wants to become successful in life
